How does the body fight with melanoma?

Here is a short (1min) and simplified video describing my project and some of the main results I have obtained so far.

During my PhD, one of my research focus was to understand how melanoma can hide from the body’s defence mechanism, which is called the immune system. In my analyses, I have used gene expression (mRNA level) data from the Leeds Melanoma Cohort, together with DNA copy number changes, and detailed patients’ clinical data.

I hope that the results from my project will contribute to improved understanding of the immune responses against melanoma, which in turn will help to improve effectiveness or development of immunotherapies (boosting the immune response against melanoma).
